About Documentary ‘Like a Rolling Stone’
(Canadian premier) Professor Nam Jeong-ho is one of the most famous dancers in South Korea and a contemporary dance education pioneer. Having performed for over 50 years in Korea and France, she now faces retirement. She wonders how it must feel to leave her days in the spotlight behind and become as forgotten as a rolling stone. Affectionately referred to Professor Nam around the country, she spends eight days dancing with a group of young people outside of Korea’s established system, which then helps her reflect upon her own life and share a special bond with her students. Like a Rolling Stone has been awarded for its cinematic beauty and for its touching portrayal of a pioneering artist transferring her knowledge inter-generationally, through pedagogy, dance and self-reflection. This is an affirming story that considers art as a powerful tool to understand, educate and heal. Directed by Park So-hyun, the film won Best Korean Film at the 2018 Seoul International Women’s Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award at the 2018 EBS International Documentary Film Festival.
